The 2018 Red Sox must Win the World Series or Bust.

August 12, 2018

The 2018 Boston Red Sox is currently 85-35 with a .708 winning percentage, the best in the American League and baseball period.

The Red Sox are on track to win more than 110 games, which would be a smashing and an amazing success for this franchise.

The Red Sox could win 117 games or more, breaking the 2001 Seattle Mariners (116-46), the 1998 New York Yankees (114-48) and the 1906 Chicago Cubs (116 wins).

The Red Sox are on a mission to win their ninth World Series championship in franchise history, their fourth championship in fourteen years. This 2018 Red Sox squad could be better than the historic 2004 Red Sox (98-64), that defeated the mighty New York Yankees in the 2004 American League Championship Series and swept the Pujols-La Russa-led St. Louis Cardinals in four games in the ’04 World Series.

However, their great record in the regular season won’t mean anything without a World Series trophy in their hands this October. Anything less than a Red Sox World Series victory will be a failure for this club. This club post-David Ortiz/Jon Lester has won the American League East division in 2016 and 2017, but failed to get past the ALDS. If they lose in the first round for the third consecutive year, the 2018 Red Sox will be a wasted, meaningless season despite the historic records created.

The 1998 Braves were among the best, they lost the NLCS to the Padres. The 2001 Mariners were one of the best, 116 wins, the most ever, but they lost to the 2001 Yankees, the then-three time defending American League and World Series champions who were inspired by the resolve of the post-9/11 New York City.

The Red Sox will be under pressure to win it all this autumn. With a new manager, Alex Cora, and a good core of Red Sox players like Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Chris Sale and J.D. Martinez, it is World Series 2018 or bust in Boston. Period.
