It’s official: New York businessman Donald Trump has clinched the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. Trump, 69, ran a longshot presidential primary race in June 2015 that was seen as a joke by political pundits, but was vastly underestimated due to the anger of the American electorate towards jobs, trade, political dysfunction, and a desire for a change in the American political system. The brash billionaire will be crowned the nominee of the GOP in July. Trump still has to unite a deeply fractured conservative party, even some of the GOP donors and conservative groups.
